Matt Cardona recently joined the “Walkway to Fight Club” podcast where he shared his thoughts on his absence from both AEW and WWE, and his preference to avoid being a key player in smaller promotions.

Discussing the absence of offers from AEW or WWE, Cardona shared, “I tend to avoid being a big fish in a small pond. I’d surely consider it if WWE or AEW reached out with a lucrative offer and a specific plan for my character. But to be clear, I’ve yet to receive any offers from either of those two companies.”

Cardona also expressed his disappointment at not receiving an offer from AEW after his match with Adam Copeland. “I was overwhelmed by the ‘Holy s*’ chants upon my entrance. It felt like my efforts over the past years had paid off,” he admitted. “I was hoping to bag an offer after the incredible match, the positive fan reaction, and the spike in social media activity. But my phone never rang and I was utterly gutted.”

Talking about the inspiration behind the Edgeheads team, Cardona revealed, “The driving idea behind Edgeheads was the TV show ‘Entourage.’ We envisioned Edge as the lead, Vinnie Chase, with us forming his entourage.”

Cardona saw it as a smart move by Edge to include them. “We had just been promoted to the main roster at the time. While Edge didn’t necessarily need us, he astutely recognized that having us along would add depth to his character and also spare him a few bumps. Instead of winning the title fair and square, he could steal it.”

Switching gears, former AEW International Champion Will Ospreay, during his appearance on “The Masked Man Show” podcast, shared his thoughts about working with Ricochet in AEW.

Discussing his second stint with Ricochet, Ospreay pointed out, “I’m older and perhaps a bit slower than before. But even at this pace, I’m quicker than many wrestlers. I recall my electrifying match with Ricochet at RevPro in 2013. Everyone remembers our iconic Super Juniors match in 2016. After that, we went on our separate ways.”

Paying tribute to Ricochet, he added, “Without Ricochet’s guidance, I don’t think I’d be where I am today. I’ve always been curious to revisit our rivalry, just to see how it plays out now.”

Reflecting on their recent match, Ospreay confessed, “The initial moments were a fan service. It was just about getting the crowd going. But once that was over, we unleashed a barrage of high-intensity moves, as we would in any big match scenario.”
