The pivotal transformation of John Cena into a heel character has elicited mixed opinions from the wrestling world. Many feel that this highly anticipated evolution has not as yet met its full potential.
A recent statement was made by Mark Henry on the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, suggesting Cena to draw inspiration from one of MARVEL’s most formidable villains. He asserted,
“If I were John Cena, I would embody Thanos right now. I’d deliver a promo that has the power to incinerate the terra firma. ‘Truth, did you take a shot at me from behind? You blindsided me when I wasn’t ready? Now I’ve got you in my sights. Rather than contemplating leaving, I’m now considering how I’ll put an end to your career. You’re going to hold the record for the briefest return to this company ever. I challenge you to face me at SummerSlam. I’m going to put you in the limelight, just so I can knock you off.”
At the 2025 WWE Money in the Bank event, an attack on Cena by the newly returned R-Truth led to Cena and co-wrestler Logan Paul losing to their competitors, Jey Uso and Cody Rhodes.
In the recent episode of RAW, Cena initiated the next stage of his respected rivalry with CM Punk. They are set to lock horns at the 2025 WWE Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia.
The RAW episode also featured a transformation from Truth, who showcased a more intense presence, making a forceful statement that emphasized his serious intent back as a returning 24/7 Champion.
Interestingly, Cena is actually linked with DC Comics, not MARVEL. The wrestling superstar has portrayed Christopher ‘Peacemaker’ Smith in the Peacemaker series.
