Despite participating in the Ring of Honor as a manager and her spouse, Mike Bennett, being a key player in The Undisputed Kingdom in All Elite Wrestling for the past year, Maria Kanellis-Bennett hasn’t been extensively featured.
This has sparked questions from some people about her retirement, especially following the series of exits from both AEW and WWE in 2024.
When faced with this query, Maria’s reply was unequivocal, saying “No, just not being brought in.”
The professional wrestler’s social media activity over the past month seems aligned with this sentiment. On June 9th, she shared a picture of herself backstage, captioned “Back to work…” Subsequently, on June 12th, she posted “If it doesn’t support this, enhance this, or understand this I’m not interested. #momlife” with images of her family.
Her further posts were either re-sharing news about AEW or ROH, or about her being in “vacation mode until further notice” or “waiting…”
To note, Maria hasn’t wrestled since July 1, 2019, on WWE Monday Night Raw, in collaboration with her husband against Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch. Interestingly, she appears to be occupied behind the scenes and managing talents like Griff Garrison and Cole Karter, who underwent surgery on July 3rd, possibly explaining Maria’s absence:
Maria looks determined to introduce Women’s Wrestling Army to ROH HonorClub, besides managing Garrison and Karter. Yet, her family remains her prime focus. Her future direction is unclear, but anyone assuming her retirement can rest assured with her definite ‘No’, regardless of whether Tony Khan and other authorities currently have a role for her.
