During a recent guest appearance on the “Regular Guy Friday” podcast on Heal Squad, Kevin Undergaro, the manager of AEW Women’s Champion Mercedes Mone, shared why Mone signed with AEW and expressed his thoughts about the toxic culture prevalent in professional wrestling.

Here are a few highlights from Undergaro’s discussion on the podcast:

On the wrestling business, he explained his admiration for wrestlers and reiterated their value in the entertainment industry. He stated, “Wrestlers are more talented and valuable than Hollywood stars… wrestling is bankable on TV and digital fronts. Professional wrestlers only increase in value as celebrity and Hollywood fade away.”

Undergaro had great admiration for both AEW and WWE in the wrestling industry. He applauded WWE’s Triple H for his creative genius and expressed his appreciation for Tony Khan’s transformative work at the helm of AEW.

Regarding Mone’s transfer to AEW, Undergaro revealed that Mone’s decision to join AEW instead of WWE was motivated by her desire to uplift female wrestling. He strongly believes that Mone’s move to AEW will inspire other female wrestlers and also balance the power structure in professional wrestling. Undergaro also shared that Mone strives to highlight her female opponents during matches.

Undergaro also discussed the negativity in wrestling podcasts, where critics relentlessly attack talent and their product. He emphasized that successful figures in the industry such as Triple H, Tony Khan, and Mone are passionate about wrestling and strive for more significant achievements beyond self-gratification.

Undergaro concluded his discussion by underscoring the importance of equal pay and treatment for female wrestlers who deliver strong performances.
