A change in storyline involving WWE and TNA that included Joe Hendry had reportedly been on the agenda, according to Fightful Select.
The WWE had weighed options of introducing Hendry in the RAW to spark a possible controversy with The Miz. However, the script was refuted after Ariel Shnerer, previously existing as the TNA Senior Vice President of Content, Distribution, and Marketing asserted his discord with the creative flow, specifically the part where Hendry was envisioned to experience defeat. Consequently, WWE initiated a plan B, replacing Hendry with Ethan Page for a parallel narrative.
The resulting fallout from the incident fueled WWE’s growing dissatisfaction with Shnerer, which subsequently led to his termination from TNA.
Moreover, there was a special request from a few WWE NXT wrestlers that Shnerer stay out of their locker room space – not because of any personal hostility, but simply because they believed that the locker room area should be strictly for the current players.
