In an interesting turn of events at the 2023 WWE Crown Jewel, Logan Paul clinched the United States Championship from Rey Mysterio. Paul carried the championship title for an admirable 273-day period, where he defended the title victoriously three times. His reign, unfortunately, ended with LA Knight defeating him at WWE SummerSlam 2024 over the weekend.
In a fresh episode of his “Hall of Fame” podcast, renowned WWE Hall of Famer Booker T shared his thoughts on Paul’s impressive journey in WWE, particularly focusing on his lengthy 273-day title reign.
Below are the podcast highlights:
Booker T’s assessment of Logan Paul’s abilities: “Stepping into the limelight with no prior experience and straight away facing off against The Miz at WrestleMania [37], that’s not something likely to be repeated. Seriously, I don’t imagine we’re ever going to see it again. Talking about a newbie who managed to stay relevant and convincing in that role, Logan Paul deserves laudatory mention. He did a fantastic job, not just participating in a match, but taking on a streak. This young man has picked up the business quickly which is commendable. In wrestling, you’ve got to fit in with the locker room culture before fitting into the ring. Logan, by no means, got an easy pass. He must have been genuinely likable to have been in that position. As US Champ, he indeed did an exemplary job.”
Speaking on the extra attention Logan Paul brings into WWE: “Undoubtedly, it takes me back. I remember thinking I could be better than some of the guys on WCW when I used to watch it. And I believe, Logan might have had a similar thought before deciding to give it a try. It’s incredibly admirable to not only just think about it, but actually pull it off. This isn’t a one-off case like Lawrence Taylor or Bad Bunny. Here, we have a YouTuber, someone from a different world, becoming the United States Champion and maintaining that position over time. For taking those big steps and proving himself able, Logan Paul deserves heaps of credit. Hats off to him.”
