In a May episode of WWE’s RAW, one intriguing scene unfolded – Lilian Garcia was there to symbolically “pass the torch” to Samantha Irvin, the next generation talent. The iconic event was recently discussed on the “Busted Open Radio” podcast where Garcia opened up about how it transpired and what lay behind her decision.
Direct quotes from Garcia’s time on the podcast illuminate the intriguing tale:
Speaking about her experience of co-announcing with Samantha Irvin, she shared, “Triple H was the one who initiated the idea of pairing us up to announce a match. Something internal drove me to endorse her, and that was sincere. Many referred to it as a ‘torch-passing moment’, which accurately encapsulates what happened.”
Garcia also talked about her introduction to Irvin which was distinctly memorable, “Our first and only encounter was once when I was visiting. We met at ringside and her excitement was endearing. She expressed, ‘You have no idea. I’ve grown up admiring you. You are my inspiration, and I’m here because of you.’ To which I replied, ‘That’s precisely the legacy you are leaving for the upcoming generation.’”
