The final match of Sting at AEW Revolution 2024 has ignited conversations about his prospective involvement with the company in the future.
During a recent broadcast of his podcast “Lex Expressed,” Lex Luger shared his aspirations for Sting to continue his affiliation with AEW even after the conclusion of his wrestling career.
Here are some key takeaways from the podcast:
Speaking on the possibility of Sting maintaining a relationship with AEW, Luger said, “I think he’s definitely going to take a little rest right now. I was actually speaking with him on the phone a few minutes ago! He’s taking a short break. But…I hope he stays involved in some way…Having been a part of the wrestling world for five decades, I could definitely envisage something like that happening. I know I’d enjoy it.”
In terms of how AEW could utilize Sting, Luger stated, “I agree, his active ring career, from bell to bell, has ended. I could picture him occasionally entering the ring to perform a single move or something, akin to what Taker did at WrestleMania, at a similar high-profile event like that…But from my perspective, [he’s] done with full-length, bell to bell matches. That truly was a genuine retirement match. But yes, I believe he can be employed effectively on television, if he expresses interest. He can undoubtedly contribute significantly in this area. No question about it.”
