The first two names advanced to the second round in the WWE United States Championship Tournament on Friday’s edition of WWE SmackDown.

Santos Escobar defeated Dragon Lee and Bobby Lashley bested Karrion Kross to advance to the next round of the tournament.

You can check out some highlights from both matches below:

Dominik Mysterio claims Wes Lee isn’t the only one suffering from back pain, as his back hurts from carrying WWE for the last two years.

Lee was forced to pull out of his North American Title shot against Mysterio at NXT Deadline 2023 due to needing back surgery and as a result, Mysterio will defend the title against Dragon Lee with Rey Mysterio in Lee’s corner.

Dominik cut a promo in a SmackDown “Digital Exclusive” discussing his upcoming title defense at NXT Deadline 2023. He said,

“Well, you know, my back also hurts from carrying this company on my back for the past almost two years now. I already beat Dragon Lee twice with my dad in his corner. So I don’t know why I need to continue to prove myself on why I’m the greatest NXT North American Champion that has ever stepped foot on this planet. Anyways, I think we’re done here because I need to go somewhat prepare for Dragon Lee, I guess. I mean, I already beat the guy, but whatever.”

And finally, Damage CTRL thanked and hugged Bayley for helping Asuka defeat Charlotte Flair on this week’s episode of WWE SmackDown.

Bayley distracted Flair and was knocked off the apron, which allowed Asuka to score a roll-up pinfall on Friday’s show.

Randy Orton Pays Fine for Hitting SmackDown General Manager

In the world of professional wrestling, drama and controversy are never far away. This was evident on last week’s episode of SmackDown when Randy Orton hit SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis with his signature move, the RKO. However, Orton didn’t escape without consequences as he was fined $50,000 for his actions.

But Orton, always the showman, took things a step further. He handed Aldis a $100,000 check, double the amount of the fine. When Aldis questioned this unexpected generosity, Orton simply replied that the extra $50,000 was for the next time. It seems that Orton is willing to pay whatever it takes to make a statement and get his way.

This incident has sparked a lot of discussion among wrestling fans. Some see it as a bold move by Orton, showing his disregard for authority and his willingness to do whatever it takes to get what he wants. Others view it as disrespectful and a sign of Orton’s arrogance.

Regardless of how one feels about Orton’s actions, it’s clear that he is a force to be reckoned with in the wrestling world. Known for his incredible athleticism and intense in-ring presence, Orton has established himself as one of the top stars in WWE.

In other news from SmackDown, the WWE United States Championship Tournament is well underway. Two names have advanced to the second round: Santos Escobar and Bobby Lashley. Escobar defeated Dragon Lee in an exciting match, while Lashley bested Karrion Kross to secure their spots in the next round.

Fans can catch highlights from both matches on WWE’s official YouTube channel. These matches showcase the incredible talent and athleticism of these wrestlers, as they battle it out for a chance at championship glory.

Meanwhile, Dominik Mysterio has been making waves in the NXT North American Championship scene. With his father, Rey Mysterio, in his corner, Dominik has been defending his title against tough opponents. However, his upcoming match against Dragon Lee has been overshadowed by Lee’s back injury, which forced him to pull out of a scheduled title shot against Mysterio. Despite this setback, Mysterio remains confident in his abilities and is determined to prove himself as the greatest NXT North American Champion.

Lastly, Damage CTRL expressed their gratitude towards Bayley for her assistance in helping Asuka defeat Charlotte Flair. Bayley’s distraction allowed Asuka to score a roll-up pinfall and secure the victory. This unexpected alliance has left fans wondering what the future holds for these wrestlers and if they will continue to work together.
