Kenny Omega and Nik Sobic had reportedly worked on the deal for several weeks with SEGA. The match was initially pitched for Full Gear 2023 and other events, but AEW ultimately decided to book it for Wednesday’s edition of Dynamite in Ontario, California over Full Gear 2023 to draw greater attention to the sponsorship deal.

Paul Wight was already factored in for the matchup as he was aiming for an in-ring return this month.

Sammy Guevara was originally booked for the matchup, but he was replaced by Brian Cage due to not being medically cleared to compete due to a concussion.

AEW President Tony Khan also included the mention of SEGA and Kota Ibushi winning the Street Fight in the signing announcement yesterday as some added value for the sponsorship deal.

People in AEW are said to be happy with how the match came off.
