Roman Reigns, the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, was injured while battling Jey Uso in a Tribal Combat Match at the WWE SummerSlam premium live event from Ford Field. When Jimmy Uso cost his brother the match, Reigns was able to win the bout.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer mentioned that Reigns was hurt during the match. Although it’s unknown what the actual injury was, it’s believed that the injury happened early on.
Reigns has been booked to appear on Friday’s episode of SmackDown for a Hail The Tribal Chief segment. It’s not clear if he’ll work Payback on September 2 or Fastlane on October 7.
Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that they had also heard of the injury happening early on.
While there was word going around after SummerSlam that Reigns was not advertised for any WWE TV events in the coming months, they stated that, for the time being, “there aren’t plans for him to miss his internally scheduled appearances.” That is always subject to change.”
