Tony Khan continues to hold a grudge against Jack Perry following CM Punk’s AEW departure and that’s why he hasn’t brought him back to television.
Perry had been absent from the scene for several months after the incident involving CM Punk at AEW All In last August. This incident resulted in Perry’s suspension. Despite Perry now working with NJPW, he remains under contract with AEW.
Perry disregarded Punk’s advice against using real glass during a TV segment. Perry performed a spot on a car windshield at All In 2023 and made a reference to using real glass on camera, which led to the physical altercation backstage.
Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Perry will be brought back after his NJPW run.
“The way we’ve heard it, was that he was sent home after Wembley and never heard back from Khan. He apologized, kept texting him about he never meant to cause any trouble and was sorry. He did hear from the company through lawyers. Then they talked and he apologized to Khan. But he still hasn’t been brought back. What they are doing now in Japan is storyline to lead to an eventual return,” Meltzer wrote.
Tony Khan’s Grudge Against Jack Perry: The Reason Behind His Absence from AEW Television
In the world of professional wrestling, backstage drama and personal conflicts often spill over into the storylines and affect the careers of the performers. One such incident involves Tony Khan, the owner of All Elite Wrestling (AEW), and Jack Perry, better known as Jungle Boy in the wrestling industry. Perry’s absence from AEW television has raised eyebrows among fans, and it appears that a grudge held by Khan is the reason behind it.
The incident in question took place at AEW All In last August when CM Punk, a former WWE superstar who had recently joined AEW, advised Perry against using real glass during a TV segment. However, Perry disregarded Punk’s advice and performed a spot on a car windshield using real glass. This decision led to a physical altercation between Perry and Punk backstage, resulting in Perry’s suspension from AEW.
Despite his suspension, Perry has continued to work with New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), a prominent wrestling promotion based in Japan. It is worth noting that Perry is still under contract with AEW, which raises questions about his absence from AEW television despite his involvement with NJPW.
According to Dave Meltzer’s report in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Perry’s return to AEW is imminent after his run with NJPW. Meltzer stated that Perry was sent home after the incident at Wembley and never heard back from Khan directly. Instead, he received communication from the company through lawyers. Perry took the initiative to apologize to Khan, expressing remorse for causing trouble and assuring him that it was unintentional. However, despite the apology, Perry has not been brought back to AEW television.
Meltzer’s report suggests that AEW is currently using Perry’s time in NJPW as part of a storyline that will eventually lead to his return. This indicates that Khan is still holding a grudge against Perry, and his absence from AEW television is a deliberate decision. It remains to be seen how this storyline will unfold and what role Perry will play upon his return.
The wrestling industry is known for its complex relationships and backstage politics. Personal conflicts between wrestlers and management can have a significant impact on their careers and the storylines presented to the audience. In the case of Tony Khan and Jack Perry, it appears that a grudge held by Khan is the reason behind Perry’s absence from AEW television. As fans eagerly await Perry’s return, they can only speculate on how this storyline will develop and whether it will lead to a resolution between the two parties involved.
