The television rights contract between AEW and Warner Bros. Discovery is expected to conclude in the latter part of this year. Speculation was rife earlier this week when a report from Puck News indicated that Tony Khan, the President of AEW, wasn’t satisfied with the current proposal. However, this claim was later reset to the contrary.
There is a growing interest from WBD CEO David Zaslav and TNT Sports chief, Luis Silberwasser, to retain the five hours of AEW content across TNT and TBS. This includes programs such as Dynamite, Rampage, and Collision.
Dave Meltzer, in his Wrestling Observer Newsletter, shared these details:
“There is a report going around that the numbers in the discussion are considerably more than the proposed 0 million annually. It could potentially nudge the company towards profitability. The conversation also includes figures between 50 percent above and almost double the current amount put forward. In particular, the latter option could result in an annual increase of tens of millions for talent acquisitions and other budget enhancements.”
