Kenny Omega announced last month that he will be taking an indefinite break after he was diagnosed with diverticulitis.
Omega initially went to the hospital, suspecting another hernia, which he had previously dealt with in 2022. Omega was experiencing bloating and thought it was due to a poor diet. Omega had been in a lot of pain for quite some time before seeking medical attention.
Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Omega has still not had surgery.
“Due to the inflammation being so bad he couldn’t have surgery at the time and as of last week still hadn’t had it. The decision will be made in about seven weeks, based on his healing, on whether he’ll need surgery or not, but if he does, that would put him out of action significantly longer. There is no time frame on when he will return at this point,” Meltzer wrote.

Kenny Omega, one of the top professional wrestlers in the world, recently announced that he will be taking an indefinite break from the ring due to a medical condition called diverticulitis. This news has left fans concerned about his health and wondering when he will be able to return to action.
Diverticulitis is a condition that occurs when small pouches, called diverticula, form in the lining of the digestive system, usually in the colon. These pouches can become inflamed or infected, causing symptoms such as abdominal pain, bloating, and changes in bowel habits. In severe cases, diverticulitis can lead to complications like abscesses or perforations in the colon.
Omega initially went to the hospital suspecting another hernia, a condition he had dealt with in 2022. However, it was discovered that he was actually suffering from diverticulitis. He had been experiencing bloating and attributed it to a poor diet, but the pain became too much to bear, prompting him to seek medical attention.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Omega has not yet undergone surgery for his condition. The inflammation was so severe that surgery was not possible at the time of diagnosis. The decision on whether he will need surgery will be made in about seven weeks, based on his healing progress. If surgery is required, it would prolong his time away from the ring even further.
The exact timeline for Omega’s return is uncertain at this point. It will depend on how well he responds to treatment and whether surgery is necessary. Diverticulitis can be a challenging condition to manage, and recovery times can vary from person to person.
Fans of Omega and professional wrestling as a whole are eagerly awaiting updates on his condition and recovery. Omega is known for his incredible athleticism and in-ring skills, and his absence will be felt in the wrestling community. However, it is important for him to prioritize his health and take the necessary time to recover fully.
