Kyle O’Reilly appeared on the latest episode of WWE’s The Bump, where he reflected on the opportunity to face Finn Balor at NXT TakeOver 31. Here are some highlights:
On facing Finn Balor at NXT TakeOver 31:
O’Reilly: “I haven’t had a lot of singles matches in my WWE career. I mean, Finn’s probably had more singles matches in this last month than I’ve had in three years here, but that’s not really gonna change my outlook. I mean, I’m a strategist. The Undisputed Era, we’re a team, we’re looking at this thing like we’re going into this match as a team, still studying footage and a match with Finn is something I’ve wanted for a long time. We’ve just kind of missed each other throughout our careers up until this point. When I finally came to America, he was in Japan. When I finally got to go to Japan, he had come here. So the fact that this match is finally happening is one thing, but put it in the main event of TakeOver for the NXT Championship, that’s just icing on the cake, and it’s a beautiful thing.”
On Adam Cole’s support:
O’Reilly: “I don’t think there would be a Kyle O’Reilly as you guys know him without Adam Cole. Our careers have been in sync for many years. Like one of my first breakout moments or matches since I’d moved to the states was with Adam. We were just these two kids on a preshow match for a somewhat notable independent promotion, but we just killed it and we’ve been tight ever since. There’s just some magic there, and a true brotherhood and bond that I’ve really never experienced with anyone in my career.”
On playing air guitar with titles:
O’Reilly: “I feel like when the music hits, I just visited some sort of psychedelic funky priest, and I just let the music take over and feel it. I think the first time I started doing it was an NXT TV episode in Atlanta, and I’m just like, man, I don’t know where it comes from. Somehow, I just let my body groove and I don’t know, I just go with it.”
