In one of the biggest matches of tonight’s NXT, Kyle O’Reilly and Pete Dunne went head-to-head to see which superstar would be facing off against Finn Balor at New Year’s Evil for the NXT Championship. Despite a ton of outside noise, it was O’Reilly who found a way to power through, defeating Dunne and earning himself a huge championship opportunity.
Before the match started, things erupted into chaos as The Undisputed Era and Danny Burch & Oney Lorcan broke out into a massive brawl, which also saw Fandango and Tyler Breeze run down to join. With everyone eventually getting separated, O’Reilly and Dunne got into the ring to battle it out, and put on quite the show. Late in the match, after countering each other over and over, Dunne caught O’Reilly with a headbutt, but couldn’t do much else after that.
O’Reilly was able to turn things around and hit Dunne with a huge jumping knee, before landing a suplex on Dunne off the apron. O’Reilly fully ended things by hitting the King Kong Knee Drop to the back of Dunne’s head, knocking him out cold and earning O’Reilly the huge win.
