An exclusive tête-à-tête was recently facilitated with Kurt Angle, the Olympic Gold Medallist and inductee of the WWE Hall of Fame. During this discussion, he held a vibrant conversation with comedian Casey Salengo touching upon a gamut of subjects. Very notably, he shared a humorous anecdote involving his dropping of pants in front of Vince McMahon during a brainstorming session with writers. The comprehensive discussion will be made available soon, but for now, here’s Angle’s account of the noteworthy incident:

Detailing the factors that led him to drop his pants in full view of Vince McMahon during a brainstorming session:

“With a demanding schedule of staying on road for around 300 days annually, our work hardly took a back seat, irrespective of injuries. I was combating a problem with painkillers then, and balancing the act of reducing the dosage while also performing each night was a challenge. Such was the severity that I contemplated quitting.

I vividly recollect the severity of one of my last injuries. With my hamstring, groin and abdominal muscles severely impacted, my groin region and legs were marked with bruises, right till my feet. I suffered this during a house show while wrestling against Rob Van Dam.

The next day I was scheduled for a TV Raw and a writer’s meeting. Despite being in pain, I decided to make it known to Vince of the toll it was taking. In the presence of women, I dropped my pants. Showing him the bruised region, I expressed my distress [‘You’re killing me, man’]. His reply was to set up a formal meeting in his Stamford office the next day.”

Also, Kurt Angle shared an interesting trivia: he used to take 12 shots of Novocaine before each Olympic match.
