Kurt Angle Shares He Wanted Shawn Michaels Rematch At WrestleMania 22

On the latest episode of “The Kurt Angle Show,” the discussion centered around Kurt Angle’s victory in the World Heavyweight Championship in 2006. When talking about the Road to WrestleMania 22, Angle revealed that he had wanted a rematch with Shawn Michaels from WrestleMania 21 before the plans for WrestleMania 22 were finalized, as he ended up defending his title in a triple threat match against Randy Orton and Rey Mysterio.

Angle and Michaels had worked together extensively, and the Olympic Gold Medalist expressed his excitement at the prospect of wrestling Michaels again at WrestleMania. He believed it would have been an incredible experience and was his preferred match for the event. Angle stated,

“They weren’t talked about yet (plans for WrestleMania 22), but my guess was a repeat with Shawn Michaels from WrestleMania 2005. We were doing a lot of work together, and I would have been really excited about that, but definitely working Shawn again would have been the match that I would have picked for WrestleMania. Definitely. To be able to wrestle Shawn a second time at WrestleMania, that would have been incredible.”

At WrestleMania 22, Rey Mysterio defied the odds and defeated both Angle and Orton to win the World Heavyweight Championship in an unforgettable moment.
