On a recent episode of The Kurt Angle Show, the WWE Hall of Famer delved into his career and opened up about his belief that he could have been considered the greatest of all time if he hadn’t left WWE. Angle expressed that while he doesn’t regret his time with TNA, he wishes he hadn’t faced so many injuries, which ultimately led to his painkiller problem and departure from WWE.

“Alright, this is a really, really difficult question. Because I don’t regret going to TNA, I absolutely loved TNA. I loved my 11 years there. I probably would’ve stayed if the money didn’t run out. But I knew it was my time to go back to WWE, and I wanted to finish my career where I started. But when I go back, the one thing I would love to change is, I wish I didn’t get injured so much. Because that’s what caused my painkiller problem, and then my painkiller problem caused me to leave the WWE. Because I felt like, if I wasn’t gonna leave, I would end up doing something pretty bad, which was overdose on painkillers. So I thought it was right for me to leave. But if I wouldn’t have left the WWE and I would’ve wrestled there 20 straight years, I believe to this day I’d be the greatest of all time. And that’s not me blowing smoke, I’m just being honest. I think I would be considered the greatest of all time if I had stuck with WWE for 20 years.”

When discussing his World Title wins, Angle revealed that his first WWE Title victory against The Rock was the most special one, as it occurred within his rookie year and against one of the biggest names in the business.

“The first one [WWE Title], because it was against the Rock and my first world title. That was the most special one, because I did that within a year when I started on TV. It was in my rookie year. Yeah. And half a year later, I beat Stone Cold Steve Austin for the World Championship. I beat the two biggest names in the business in my first year and a half in the business. It was crazy. But if I had to compare them, because the first one was my very first title, that was the most special one. Sure. That’s the one that I remember the most.”
