Reflecting on the Main Event Mafia’s success, Kurt Angle stated: “Yeah, we all knew. It actually worked out even better once we formulated it, and we were like, ‘Holy crap, this thing’s gonna be huge.’ You know, I just don’t think that we gave it enough time. I think if we would’ve let it mature for a while, it would be every bit as big as the NWO. And that’s a stretch… [laughs] Yeah, that’s going viral.”

When discussing possible changes to the group, Angle mentioned: “You know what? The only other thing I might have changed was adding another character, another wrestler. And that would be Christian. Because he had a lot of success. He was a world champion. He was in WWE, he was a 20-time tag team champion, World Tag Team Champion. So, Christian would have been a good addition that group.”

Highlighting the challenge of turning Sting into a heel, Angle expressed: “Oh God. It was almost impossible. I mean, whenever he would come out alone they were cheering him, you know? When we all came out as a group, they booed us somewhat. But Sting, it was just almost impossible to make him a heel. Almost impossible.”

Offering his perspective on Sting’s portrayal as a heel, Angle explained: “I don’t think of Sting as a heel; it just doesn’t happen. You know, he was such a babyface his whole entire career. I don’t even know if he turned heel in WCW, not that I can remember. And you know, it was really difficult for Sting to do this. He took to it pretty well, but I know he was uncomfortable because he’s never done it before, and he was always a babyface, and the people always adored him. The fans loved him. So it was a little difficult, I’d imagine, for Sting to do this.”
