Kota Ibushi wowed fans in the main event of Day 1 of the G1 Climax 2020 by defeating Kazuchika Okada. However, Ibushi feels that he still has unfinished business with his rival and that he has grand plans to become God.
“When I said I will become god, maybe you can speculate that I want to be on the level of my gods Nakamura and Tanahashi,” Ibushi stated (translation via Chris Charlton). “That’s fine, but what I mean is I actually plan to be God. Capital G.”
Ibushi also explained why he wants to face Okada again in the future.
“This wasn’t just any match. Last year in the G1, beating Okada put me in the finals. On Jan. 4, I lost. So this was about revenge in a way but I had to give it my all. I said I was thinking about pacing in this league but I had to give my all today. What you saw was no different, it was 2020 Okada and 2020 Ibushi. But Okada didn’t go for the Rainmaker and if he doesn’t do that, he hasn’t given all he has. I want to face him again.”
