New Japan Pro-Wrestling superstar Kota Ibushi recently sat down with the company to discuss his upcoming match against Kazuchika Okada at Wrestle Kingdom 14. In the interview, Ibushi also touched on a handful of topics, including what it means to be in the main event and where this ranks for him.
Check out some highlights below:
On the match against Okada:
This is the first time I’ll get to main event the Tokyo Dome, and I’ll get to face the current top wrestler in the world, Kazuchika Okada. The whole thing has me very excited, and it’s the first time there are back-to-back Tokyo Dome shows on January 4th and 5th, not only the first time in New Japan history, but all of Japanese pro-wrestling history, right? And I get to be in the main event, I couldn’t be happier.
On what being in the main event is like:
I used to think that that was something I couldn’t reach, that’s how I used to see it. Simply, I’m very happy to be main eventing this Tokyo Dome show. Before I got to this point, I still remember my perspective as a fan.
On where this match ranks for him:
Personally, I see New Japan Pro-Wrestling as the world’s best pro-wrestling company. So, I committed to New Japan in 2019, and now I get to main event the greatest pro-wrestling event from the best promotion. I couldn’t ask for anything more.
