During a recent conversation with Tokyo Sports, professional wrestler Konosuke Takeshita discussed the growing likelihood of a fight with fellow Japanese wrestler Kazuchika Okada, especially now that they’re both affiliated with the American wrestling promotion AEW.
Takeshita articulated his belief, stating, “I view it as fate. Even prior coming to America, whispers of a dream match between Takeshita and Okada were already present. Our paths may have diverged, but now we find ourselves in the same organization. I am confident the match against Okada will materialize when the timing is right. My objective is to make our bout more spectacular, generating even more attention from fans across the globe. I realized that the slogan for this year’s G1 ‘Kessho Saikyou,’ fits perfectly to my situation. ‘Crowning the strongest?’, indeed. We are at a watershed moment, as the wrestling torch is being passed onto our generation at AEW. I am committed to demonstrating who is spearheading this movement…I will prove it.”
In addition, Takeshita shed light on his aspiration to carve out his place as a frontrunner of the new generation during his participation in the NJPW G1 Climax 34.
He went on to reiterate, “I discovered that this year’s G1 slogan is ‘Kessho Saikyou,’ which I feel resonates with my intent. ‘Determining the strongest?’ Truly, we’re at a significant juncture in this era, with our generation blazing a trail at AEW. I am determined to show who is charting the course…I will prove it.”
