In earlier reports on eWn, it was mentioned that Tony Khan, the president of AEW, labeled WWE as an “evil juggernaut” and the “Harvey Weinstein of the wrestling pro community” during his guesting on the NFL Network.
In response to Khan’s contentious statements, AAA booker Konnan, on his widely-followed podcast “Keepin’ It 100,” voiced out his opinions.
Below are selected excerpts from the podcast discussion:
Responding to Tony Khan’s recent remarks: “Labeling an entire company as Harvey Weinstein is an exaggeration. It was perhaps one, maybe two people, assuming if John Laurinaitis was implicated. The point is, wrestlers are shrewd. They meticulously scout the landscape to find the best fit. And surely, there must be some who are eyeing AEW, seeing all the renowned wrestlers, and wondering, ‘Why would I prefer that?’ It might be more beneficial to stay where I am.”
Addressing The Elite’s verbal attack against Tony Khan on AEW Dynamite: “I perceived it as knee-jerk reaction. Like, we need to hit back, let’s disparage WWE, let’s answer them. But that’s not the right strategy to get to the top. And it will likely result in a painstaking, uphill battle.”
