– ADVERTISMENT –

John Laurinaitis told Konnan that he was too old to work as a WWE commentator, it has been claimed.

Laurinaitis was with WWE from 2001 to last year, when he was fired for his role in the Vince McMahon hush-money scandal.

On “Keepin’ It 100” Konnan recalled trying to pursue a role as a WWE commentator, only to be blocked by ‘Johnny Ace.’ He said,

“Johnny Ace was like, ‘How old are you?’ I gave him at that time whatever I was, like 37 or some s**t. He was like, ‘Yeah, you’re too old,’ and I was like, ‘Well are you going to flash my age on the TV, plus, your brother [Road Warrior Animal] is here and he’s older than me.’ But he was always full of s**t anyways.”

After his departure from WWE, Paul Wight admitted that part of his decision to leave was because older wrestlers get fewer opportunities in the promotion.

While LA Knight is one of WWE’s most popular Superstars, it has been reported that WWE did not initially see him as an in-ring talent on the main roster due to his age.
