“This is the way I look at it; obviously, we’ll know pretty soon. I said this six months ago, I cannot believe … that even with all the other errors that have been made by that company, that six months ago, knowing that this day would come and you hadn’t fixed it.”

He continued, “Why would you spend all that time on MJF? … Because I’m thinking that, ‘Alright, MJF might be hurt.’ Let’s just say he is. ‘He might be hurt. We take the title off him. He doesn’t come back for a while. Maybe he’s going to WWE, and it kind of generates a buzz, and he comes back.’ Because I gotta think six months ago he signed. He was probably making 200,000 dollars, and now he’s making two million.”

MJF was removed from the AEW roster page earlier this month.

After losing the AEW World Title to Samoa Joe at the Worlds End 2023 pay-per-view event, MJF is currently off AEW television. The former champion is dealing with several injuries and is trying to avoid undergoing surgery. However, according to Konnan, MJF has already signed a new contract with All Elite Wrestling.

On a recent episode of his “Keepin’ It 100” podcast, Konnan expressed his surprise at the situation. He mentioned that six months ago, he couldn’t believe that AEW hadn’t fixed the issue of MJF’s contract expiring. Konnan speculated that the company should have taken precautions knowing that this day would come.

Konnan further discussed his thoughts on why AEW invested so much time in MJF if they were aware of his contract situation. He pondered whether MJF might be hurt and speculated that taking the title off him and generating buzz about a potential move to WWE could have been a strategy. However, Konnan believes that MJF likely signed a new contract six months ago, possibly for a significant increase in salary.

Interestingly, MJF was removed from the AEW roster page earlier this month, adding fuel to the speculation surrounding his contract status.
