On how talent could leave other promotions to go to AAA now: “Do we take nothing and do we prove ourselves or do we take something better? We’ve already got the talent, we’ve got the history of drawing in the United States. … Guys could leave WWE one day and come with us, or AEW and come with us.”

On AAA struggling to break into the US: “I think we’ve stopped our own progression in the United States by being disorganized, not being on time and doing a lot of s***, shooting ourselves in the foot. … I’m the first one that’s mad that we’re still not in the United States, but I can tell you this, these are the correct people, these are the people that are going to take us where we need to go.”

During a recent appearance on the “Wrestling Then and Now” podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Tito Santana commented on the time WWE chose Bret Hart over him to become champion in 1992, his reaction to it, and more.

You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:

On WWE choosing Bret Hart to become champion: “There was a time that they were going to put the belt on me. They were going to go, the WWF, was going to go into Mexico, South America, Central America, Spain. I beat The Undertaker in Spain. They were building me up when I came back as El Matador. All of a sudden, they dropped the South America, Central America, Mexico [tour]. They went into Canada, and they chose Bret.”

On Bret Hart leaving WWE when he was really getting over: “The whole Canadian thing was on fire, it was like the Canadians against the Americans. And then all of a sudden, I hear that Bret’s going to be leaving and I just said to myself, ‘You know, it took all this time to get over, and now they’re going to take the belt away from him?’ I just couldn’t understand.”
