In a recent episode of the “Stories With Brisco & Bradshaw” podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Koko B. Ware discussed how he conceptualized the use of Frankie the Parrot as part of his Birdman character in WWE. He also shared Vince McMahon’s reaction to the idea and elaborated on its popularity among children.
Below are some key points from the podcast discussion:
Speaking on the inception of Frankie the Bird as part of his character, Koko recalls, “I was ‘The Birdman’ in Louisiana, and I always had birds on my tights. The idea of incorporating a parrot came from a chance encounter in a pet store, where I took a picture of one.”
On Vince McMahon’s response to the concept, Koko narrates, “His initial reaction was one of practicality, saying, ‘Wow, you know Koko, should you decide to work for us, it would mean traipsing across the globe with this parrot.'”
Discussing the reaction of the young WWE fans to Frankie, Koko says, “The kids loved it. They adored the sight of the little Birdman with Frankie perched by the ringside.”
