“Absolutely,” Sullivan said. “That’s why I love that Roman has the belt. It means that he is the guy. … They were passing that thing around. No disrespect to anybody, but a 16-time world champion?”

“And that’s why I was so glad that [Roman Reigns] won [at] WrestleMania,” Sullivan continued. “Because when Cody [Rhodes] does beat him, you know that he is going to get a huge pop. When Cody wins the belt, … he won’t get that heat he would’ve got after the Sami Zayn [loss] in Montreal. If [Cody] had won after Sami had torn that place down, I think there would’ve been some backlash on him.”

In a recent episode of his podcast, Tuesday with The Taskmaster, Kevin Sullivan shared his thoughts on various topics in the world of professional wrestling. One of the subjects he discussed was the number of titles in today’s wrestling landscape.

Sullivan expressed his appreciation for Roman Reigns holding the WWE Universal Championship, stating, “That’s why I love that Roman has the belt. It means that he is the guy.” He went on to criticize the practice of constantly passing the championship around, saying, “No disrespect to anybody, but a 16-time world champion?” Sullivan’s comments reflect a desire for a more prestigious and meaningful championship reign.

The former WCW booker also touched on the significance of Cody Rhodes potentially winning the championship from Roman Reigns. Sullivan believes that if Cody were to defeat Reigns, it would result in a huge reaction from the audience. He contrasted this with the hypothetical scenario of Cody winning the title after Sami Zayn had already delivered an outstanding performance, suggesting that there might have been backlash in that case.

Sullivan’s insights provide an interesting perspective on the current state of wrestling championships and their importance in storytelling and character development. His comments highlight the value of a strong, dominant champion and the impact it can have on the audience’s investment in a match or storyline.
