Noted wrestling personality Kevin Sullivan, fondly regarded as “The Taskmaster,” has unfortunately departed us at the age of 74. Initial reports on his demise were shed light upon by prominent Florida wrestling figure Barry Rose, and later affirmed by Pwinsider.
In the past few months, Sullivan had been grappling with numerous health problems. His health deteriorated drastically in May when he was rushed into surgery due to a life-threatening condition that also jeopardized his leg. Regrettably, he encountered severe complications following the procedure, such as sepsis and encephalitis. To help defray the costs associated with his medical treatment, a GoFundMe campaign aimed to gather ,000 was initiated.
Commencing his wrestling career in 1982, Sullivan left a lasting impact on a number of wrestling federations, including Florida Championship Wrestling, Jim Crockett Promotions, WCW, and ROH. Whether it was as a wrestler or a booker, he left an impression, as evidenced by the numerous titles he held during his career.
Well-regarded as a high-attraction wrestler, Sullivan is particularly remembered for his intense confrontations with some of the most iconic figures in wrestling history such as Hulk Hogan, Dusty Rhodes, The Road Warriors, Sting, Randy Savage, the Four Horsemen, Terry Funk among others.
Post his farewell match that saw him clash against Chris Benoit in 1997, Sullivan switched gears to work off-stage for WCW while maintaining a part-time wrestling schedule.
During this hard time, we at eWn express our heartfelt condolences to Sullivan’s family.
