Despite having previously been told that he would never make it to the main roster, Kevin Owens has had a long-running career in either RAW or SmackDown.
Owens’ career with WWE NXT was first launched a decade ago, and he was elevated to the principal roster of WWE just a year after that.
During a recent meetup with “Collider,” Owens shared an account of being told initially that he would most likely spend all his WWE days solely as a part of NXT. He recounted,
“When I first signed on with WWE, I was essentially told that my place would be in ‘NXT’ and I wouldn’t really make it to the platform of RAW or SmackDown. But then, about eight or nine months later, I found myself on RAW standing face to face with John Cena. Since that turning point, I’ve featured in WrestleManias, held numerous titles, and even shared the ring with my all-time favourite wrestler Steve Austin. I’ve succeeded in providing for my family in ways I never imagined.”
In 2015, Owens stepped into the RAW arena and the subsequent year was marked by his command of the red brand with an impressive 188-day as Universal Champion.
In his upcoming match at this weekend’s Saturday Night’s Main Event, Owens is poised to challenge the Undisputed WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes.
