Kevin Owens On His Absence From WWE RAW

Kevin Owens recently appeared on WWE’s The Bump, where he discussed his absence from WWE RAW this past week. Here are some highlights:

On his absence:

Owens: “Due to the circumstances that happened over the last week there, with, you know, the positive coronavirus test that happened in the company, I thought it was just wiser for me to stay with my family on that day, and I told the people in charge my decision, and they didn’t even flinch, they were like, ‘Yeah, okay,’ and that’s it. There’s no pushback, I mean I don’t think they’d push back on anybody, but also they know once I make my mind up for something , that’s kinda the way it’s gonna be, and they were respectful of my decision. And I’m glad I took it because I think it was the best thing to do for my family.”

On working with a new wave of talent:

Owens: “I’ve been getting the chance to wrestle these guys that I’ve never been in the ring with, that I’ve never competed against, and I’m discovering new talent. You know, obviously I’ve always known these guys were talented, you know, Apollo Crews in particular, I’ve known for several years, I’ve seen wrestle so many times, but I’ve never gotten in the ring with him. And then Angel Garza, you know, I’ve seen come up in the last, I don’t know it hasn’t even been a year, right? The last six, seven, eight months, whatever it’s been, maybe even less, everything kinda feels like a time warp right now. And he’s obviously extremely talented, so to be in the ring with them and get these new guys, or they’re not new guys, but for me they’re new to be in the ring with, it’s invigorating and it’s been a lot of fun, and I really enjoy it.”

Xavier Woods On His Recovery

Xavier Woods also appeared on WWE’s The Bump. He discussed several topics, including his recovery and his “obsession” with Batista’s theme song. Here are some highlights:

On his recovery:

Woods: “I unfortunately don’t have an update on when I’m gonna be back in ring action. I am feeling pretty good, I’m moving around, I’m doing calf raises and what not. Things are coming along, I can’t let the goose out of the bag yet, I don’t know if that’s a saying, but, like I said, I’m feeling pretty good.”

On Kofi and Big E supporting the Black Lives Matter movement on-screen:

Woods: “Extremely proud. You guys know that it’s been something that’s been very important to us for a very long time ,being able to let young black kids know that your voice is heard, your voice is important and, matter of fact, just letting everyone know, especially when there’s a topic that hits so close to home that we’ve dealt with for so long. Very very proud to be able to see those guys do that at that moment in time for the audience that’s watching.”

On singing Batista’s theme song:

Woods: “I’m a person who’s just like, you know what, this is how I feel, this is what I want to be released from my body, so I’m just gonna let this Dave Batista out of me, you know? But I don’t think it really became an obsession until I guess until Breeze and I were playing GM mode [on UpUpDownDown.]”
