In the recent episode of “SHAK Wrestling” podcast, Kevin Owens shared his thoughts on various issues, prominently yet not limited to Cody Rhodes departure from WWE in 2016 and later associating with The Young Bucks.
Kevin commented, “Cody bid his adieu in 2016, which was disheartening. It was tough seeing a friend go. I had this strong desire for him to get the best possible initiation into the independent scene because it was completely foreign territory for him, having never experienced it before. WWE had been his universe for so long. The independent scene is an entirely different universe compared to the WWE. I just provided him some guidance and introduced him to the right people.”
His commentary continued, “I had a hunch that The Young Bucks would be able to handle him and I was pretty sure they would click. Turns out, I was right. I helped him find the right platform, which laid the foundation, and everything else fell into place. He was aware of his capabilities and was eager to unveil to the audience the potential that he saw in himself. His success is undeniable. That’s definitely playing it down. It’s heartening to see him receive the appreciation he deserves and reach the position he is in today.”
