Nash said, I thought the glad-handing on the way to the ring was not him. For somebody that was so ‘pipe bomb,’ it felt very contrived. At the end, it was like, ‘Oh sh*t, I better slip this in so I have some credibility.’ [Quoting Punk], ‘I’m not here to make friends, I’m here to make money.’ I’ve heard that before.

WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash recently shared his thoughts on CM Punk’s promo during a recent episode of his podcast, “Kliq This.” Punk made his first appearance on WWE RAW in nearly ten years after returning at Survivor Series 2023.

Nash expressed his opinion on Punk’s entrance to the ring, stating, “I thought the glad-handing on the way to the ring was not him. For somebody that was so ‘pipe bomb,’ it felt very contrived.” Nash believed that Punk’s actions seemed forced and not in line with his previous rebellious persona.

Furthermore, Nash commented on Punk’s statement at the end of the promo, where he said, “I’m not here to make friends, I’m here to make money.” Nash mentioned that he had heard similar lines before and questioned the authenticity of Punk’s words.

CM Punk’s return to WWE has been highly anticipated by fans, as he is known for his controversial and outspoken nature. His previous “pipe bomb” promo in 2011, where he criticized WWE and its management, became legendary among wrestling fans. Therefore, expectations were high for his return promo.

However, Nash’s comments suggest that he felt Punk’s performance fell short of the hype. He believed that Punk’s glad-handing and scripted lines undermined the authenticity of the moment. Nash’s critique highlights the challenge of living up to past performances and maintaining credibility in the wrestling industry.

Despite Nash’s reservations, CM Punk’s return has generated significant buzz within the wrestling community. Fans are eager to see how his storyline unfolds and whether he can recapture the same level of intensity and passion that made him a fan favorite in the past.

It is worth noting that opinions on Punk’s promo may vary among fans and fellow wrestlers. Wrestling is a subjective art form, and different individuals may have different interpretations and preferences.

As the wrestling world continues to evolve, it is essential for performers like CM Punk to navigate the fine line between staying true to their character and meeting the expectations of the audience. Whether Punk’s return will live up to the hype and deliver memorable moments remains to be seen, but it is clear that his presence has already made a significant impact on the WWE landscape.
