Mercedes Mone has been an integral part of AEW for over a year, reigning as the current TBS Champion. However, her performance has drawn criticism from Kevin Nash, who believes she’s ‘phoning it in.’
Mone initially appeared during AEW Dynamite’s ‘Big Business’ episode in March 2024, claiming the TBS championship title in her debut match the subsequent May.
In a recent episode of his “Kliq This” podcast, Nash voiced concern over Mone’s performance in AEW, especially when compared to her time with WWE NXT. He shared,
“Sasha, whatever her name is now, CEO. She was the third [match.] So I watched her match, and man—she’s phoning her sh*t in big time. That’s not the same girl I watched tearing it out in the house in Brooklyn with Bayley.”
Here, Nash refers to the well-remembered Sasha Banks vs. Bayley showdown from WWE NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 2015, in which Bayley claimed the NXT Women’s Title.
Even ten years on, the Bayley-Banks face-off is widely regarded as a pivotal event in both wrestlers’ careers and is deemed one of the greatest women’s matches in WWE history.
