Kenny Omega Shares Reflections on His Wardrobe Malfunction Incident at WRP Show

During a recent Twitch stream, former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega recalled his unfortunate wardrobe malfunction during a Wrestling Retribution Project taping.

Omega worked on the doomed TV wrestling project filmed in 2011, and the wardrobe malfunction occurred after performing a shooting star press on Luther.

Omega said, “Tommy Dreamer was the person to say cut the camera. I go over to Tommy and I’m like ‘Tommy, what the f**k?’ He goes ‘Kenny, we’ve got to cut it,’ and I was like ‘Why??’

And I’m standing up to Tommy like ‘Why do we have to cut it?!’ and he goes ‘Kenny your balls are hanging out.’ I looked down, fish hooked my tights, and that was it, that was my wardrobe malfunction.”

Wrestling Retribution Project featured wrestlers like Omega, Luther, Chris Hero, Chris Masters, Amazing Red, LA Knight, Brian Cage, Karl Anderson, Luke Gallows, and others playing newly-created gimmicks.

While the show reached its goal of $100,000 through Kickstarter, there was not much footage released until creator Jeff Katz began uploading the content to his YouTube channel.

However, that YouTube channel was taken down due to “multiple third-party claims of copyright infringement regarding material the user posted.”

Former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega recently shared a hilarious and embarrassing story during a Twitch stream. He recalled a wardrobe malfunction that occurred during a taping of the Wrestling Retribution Project in 2011.

The incident happened after Omega performed a shooting star press on Luther, a fellow wrestler. As Omega landed, he realized something was amiss. Tommy Dreamer, who was present at the event, quickly shouted, “Cut the camera!” Confused, Omega approached Dreamer and demanded an explanation.

Omega recounted the conversation, saying, “I asked Tommy, ‘What the f**k?’ He replied, ‘Kenny, we’ve got to cut it.’ I persisted, asking why. And then Tommy dropped the bombshell: ‘Kenny, your balls are hanging out.’ I looked down, fish-hooked my tights, and that was it – my wardrobe malfunction.”

The Wrestling Retribution Project was a TV wrestling project that aimed to feature new gimmicks for various wrestlers. Alongside Omega and Luther, notable names like Chris Hero, Chris Masters, Amazing Red, LA Knight, Brian Cage, Karl Anderson, and Luke Gallows were involved in the project.

Despite raising $100,000 through Kickstarter, the Wrestling Retribution Project faced numerous challenges. Footage from the project was scarce until creator Jeff Katz began uploading content to his YouTube channel. Unfortunately, the channel was later taken down due to multiple third-party claims of copyright infringement.

While Omega’s wardrobe malfunction may have been embarrassing at the time, it has become a humorous anecdote for fans and fellow wrestlers alike. It serves as a reminder that even professional athletes can experience unexpected mishaps in their careers.

The incident also sheds light on the challenges faced by independent wrestling projects like the Wrestling Retribution Project. Despite the initial excitement and financial support from fans, these projects often encounter obstacles that prevent them from reaching their full potential.

Nevertheless, the Wrestling Retribution Project and Omega’s wardrobe malfunction remain memorable moments in the world of professional wrestling. They serve as reminders of the unpredictable nature of the industry and the dedication of wrestlers who continue to entertain fans despite the occasional mishap.
