In an interview with NJPW to generate excitement for the upcoming NJPW Power Struggle event, Kenny Omega’s focus revolved around the “unfinished business” he has with The Elite.
The interview highlights are compiled below:
About the Elite: “There’s a myriad of unsettled matters at hand. Unresolved issues with the Bucks are on the plate, as well as those with Jack Perry. And Okada, it goes without saying.”
About the NJPW roster: “Examining the impressive lineup over at New Japan, I can’t help but note the impressive figures. Shingo Takagi has always been a dream opponent of mine, but now my focus is on nurturing the upcoming talents. Those whom people recommend as promising stars, those whom I need to be careful about, these are the ones I want to challenge. Mouthy little fellows like Greg Kidd? [Someone off-screen says Gabe Kidd.] Gabe Kidd, indeed, he’s a humorous character. The thing about him is his soaring confidence. He made a comment about AEW wrestlers’ fear of speaking to girls, which is something I can resonate with. His confidence is admirable, and I yearn to regain that ferocity myself. If people like him are eager, and believe this is their time, it’s the moment to spotlight them.
I relish discovering talents like these because, without someone like me, we might not know about a guy in AEW like Will Ospreay and his skyrocketing ascend. He’s arguably the top guy in our company right now. Consider Jay White, who took destiny into his hands and evolved into the persona he is now. Without him, he wouldn’t be recognized globally as one of the best, which he indeed is. So bring to me the budding talents. Super rapid-call, Callum [Newman]? seems like he could win an Olympic 100-meter dash. These kinds of performers, this is the sort of pro wrestling I’m keen on. I want to be introduced to guys like this. Lads like Gabe, Callum, HENARE, he’s among the strongest, fiercely resilient performers in New Japan.
Let’s applaud Zack Sabre Jr, the second non-native to win a G1. Massive things are in motion in this company, and if people aren’t aware, I’m determined to enlighten them. The “Forbidden Door” or however you wish to call it is not just an opportunity for Japan’s brightest to get recognition in America, but also for American talent to make a name over here. There’s enormous potential for these young talents to create a substantial impact over at New Japan. The chance to intermingle, to challenge each other, is now conceivable.
At the 2024 AEW WrestleDream pay-per-view event, Rico appeared alongside MxM Collection to go against The Acclaimed. However, the victory went in favor of The Acclaimed.
The former WWE Superstar talked about the appearance in a recent edition of his “Stylin’ Podcast.”
The podcast highlights are collated below:
Regarding whether he believes MxM Collection deserves his talents: “Absolutely, because I have the talent and I can either make or break individuals. They piqued my interest as their synergy is exceptional. They are protégés with raw potential that I can sense. It’s similar to when I first saw Billy and Chuck. However, it was their refusal to adhere to my plan that led to our downfall, which is the sole disappointment in my illustrious career. But with Mansoor and Mason, I don’t think they will follow suit.
About their setback at AEW WrestleDream: “Undeniably, they were led astray at AEW WrestleDream. Granted that their loss was a disappointment, but it’s just a single defeat amidst potential numerous victories. To ensure they aren’t disheartened, I encouraged them and gifted them a token of my belief. There is still hope as they are young and learning, and I am ready to invest my extra efforts in their growth.
