Barbie Blank first appeared in WWE under the persona Kelly Kelly, as a part of the ECW brand, displaying an exhibitionist character. Initially, she was known simply as Kelly, but the name soon evolved to Kelly Kelly in the following week.

In a recent conversation with Fastbreak, Kelly Kelly divulged that she had a preference for her birth name. She expressed,

“I wanted Barbie. I wanted Barbie so bad, but it’s trademarked. They offered me a choice from ten or 15 names, and Kelly was among them. ‘Oh, I like Kelly. That’s cute.’ She was a Barbie. There was a Kelly doll. It was Kelly. Later when I made my WWE debut, suddenly it was Kelly Kelly. Vince, it’s hard to say what goes on in his mind, but apparently he got inspired by a ‘Cheers’ episode where the female bartender was a Kelly. I was born too late to know that. There was even a song, ‘Kelly, Kelly, Kelly.’ That’s how Kelly Kelly was made.”

When questioned about her thoughts on her double-barreled ring name “Kelly Kelly”, she responded with, “Nobody else had a duplicate name, so it would definitely make a mark.”
