Kelly Kelly embarked on her journey with WWE ECW back in 2006. Initially gracing the screen as an “Extreme Exposé” dancer, she gradually transitioned into the wrestling ring, featuring prominently during Mike Knox’s feud with The Sandman.
One defining incident in this rivalry occurred when The Sandman, in the heat of combat, landed a kendo stick blow to Kelly Kelly’s head.
Recently on the “Fast Break” podcast, Kelly shed some light on the physically demanding aspects of her initial years in WWE.
Her words resonated with the burden of these challenging experiences, “It was incredibly tough. As we were rehearsing, Sandman assured me, ‘Kelly, it’s going to be a cakewalk,’ and then he would only gently poke me with the stick. But when I saw him swing that thing back during the actual event, I realized the magnitude of it. I remember crashes to the ground, seeing stars, and wondering ‘What just happened?’ When we returned backstage, they laid me on a gurney. I reopened my eyes just to find Vince looming over me. ‘Kelly, you okay?’ The veteran lot, those who were like brothers or father figures to me, had previously warned me, ‘When you get hit with that stick and return backstage, do not let them see your tears. Hold them back.’ Vince asked me again, ‘Are you okay?’ I tried my best to keep up the brave face, ‘I’m perfectly fine.’ Everyone was in line waiting to see my reaction. But the moment I retreated to the locker room, I broke down. I called my family, confessing, ‘I don’t have the first idea on how to do this.’ Yet, believe it or not, the next week found me back in the wrestling ring.”
