Barbie Blank, better known by her WWE stage name Kelly Kelly, has publicly stated that her wrestling character never materialized as a heel persona. As per the ex-WWE Divas and WWE 24/7 Champion, her performance would not have flourished with a villainous character.
Entering the WWE universe in 2006 and exiting it in 2012, Kelly Kelly remained a face (hero) throughout her career, making her quite exceptional in WWE lore, particularly amongst the female wrestlers.
During her appearance on a recent episode of the “Fast Break” podcast, Blank offered her take on why transforming into a heel character would not have worked out for her. She was quoted saying,
“Kelly Kelly was me. It was me just 100 times more…That was the greatest thing, to be myself. I could never have been a bad guy.”
“I attempted to become a heel. I even went to Vince’s office and told him, ‘I want to be a bad guy.’ He responded, ‘Alright, show me your bad guy face.’ I made my attempt, but then I started laughing, and he said, ‘Kelly, leave my office. No.’”
Since her departure, Kelly Kelly has made numerous guest appearances in WWE. Her latest match was in 2022’s women’s Royal Rumble, which was won by Ronda Rousey.
Her career after WWE is engagingly depicted in a video titled “Kelly Kelly: Where Are They Now?” which is available for viewing below: [embedded content].
