As the word continues to try and deal with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic that has swept the world, professional athletes from everywhere have joined together to help in efforts. One of those athletes, New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s Kazuchika Okada, recently made a very personal and sizable contribution to local efforts near him.
According to a report from New Japan Pro-Wrestling, Okada has donated 5 million Yen to the Nippon Foundation’s special relief fund for Coronavirus. The contribution will go towards supporting doctors, nurses, and volunteers that are working on the front lines and combatting the virus in Japan. Okada has also already established the Rainmaker Foundation, another charity that aims to support those affected by childhood cancer.
In a statement regarding the donation, Okada said that he just wanted to give back, and that he hoped fans would “continue to stay home and stay healthy” so that everyone is able to “return to the ring as soon as possible.”
