The participation of Kazuchika Okada in the 2024 AEW Continental Classic wrestling event has been officially declared. This makes him the opening participant to be named for this eagerly-anticipated tournament.
A specially created video segment remained laser-focused on showcasing the prodigious performances he put on during the past G1 Climax, a prestigious competition where Okada triumphed four times – in 2012, 2014, 2021, and 2022.

There is currently no information about when the tournament will commence or who the other athletes partaking will be. While Okada’s participation had been speculated upon, given his status as the current AEW continental champion defending his title, this announcement solidifies that the pattern established last year, where the championship was first inaugurated, will be sustained. However, it also subtly suggests that no other titles will be in the mix – a notable difference from last year’s Triple Crown concept that emerged as Eddie Kingston risked the ROH World Championship and NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship.
