The wrestling faction named the Final Testament was initially proposed to be centred around MMA or mixed martial arts, as stated on the podcast ‘Insight With Chris Van Vliet’. Karrion Kross, one of the group’s members, shared his thoughts about the origin of the group and his reservation about Elan MMA-style faction.

During the podcast, Kross elaborated on the early stages of forming the group. He revealed how creative had been considering the idea of him leading a team, and how there were several people they wished to align with him. Kross did not share the names of the potential members, pointing out that AOP was supposed to be part of it with Paul Ellering. This idea came about when it came to light that AOP had been in the roster for a while, and they were seeking the right moment to involve them.

In the formative stages, cryptic vignettes were shot at the Performance Center that were akin to propaganda videos. The initial direction was to resemble a militia-cult group. Kross, however, wished to remain unique and avoid recurring archetypes common in professional wrestling, films, and movies, focusing instead on novelty with nostalgic references.

At some point, Kross pointed out that the management wanted the group to take on an MMA-style, but he believed it wasn’t the best approach. Citing technical reasons pertaining to time slots and the pace of shows, Kross opined that an MMA-style presentation might not hold viewers’ attention. Instead, a character-centric approach was decided upon.
