In a recent episode of his podcast “Six Feet Under,” WWE Hall of Fame inductee, Kane, reflected on the various wrestling gimmicks he was given throughout his career, including memorable personas like Dr. Isaac Yankem and Fake Diesel. A brief summary of the podcast’s highlights is provided below:
Concerning the question of whether he had the worst gimmicks in the history of wrestling, Kane responded ambiguously: “Not sure about that. Early on in my career, I was given everything I could get. Some of my gimmicks weren’t the best. Nonetheless, I don’t believe mine were the worst or that I had the most. I regularly think back to Terry Taylor’s Red Rooster persona or Fred Ottman’s Shockmaster among others.”
As for his response to finding out about the creation of Isaac Yankem, Kane was baffled: “The moment they suggested the Isaac Yankem idea, my reaction was one of disbelief. I had trouble grasping why they would turn someone my size – 6’8″ and weighing 300 pounds – into a wrestling dentist. Seeing my peers like The Undertaker and others all portraying cool characters, I couldn’t help but feel there had to be something more fitting for myself. Unfortunately, I felt almost immediately that this character just wasn’t going to be the right fit.”
