Wrestler Josh Alexander from TNA (Total Nonstop Action) Wrestling, was unable to hide his sadness following the contentious exit of Scott D’Amore from the organization.
The parent company of TNA, Anthem, surprisingly dismissed D’Amore in the aftermath of the successful TNA reboot via the ‘Hard To Kill’ pay-per-view in January.
Both wrestling fans and fellow wrestlers raised objections to the decision, owing to D’Amore’s sterling leadership during the challenging periods in TNA’s history, along with his instrumental role in resurrecting the promotion.
During a recent episode of the “Insight” podcast, Alexander reflected on D’Amore’s exit from the organization, and confessed,
“In the beginning, the moment I discovered his dismissal, my eyes welled up with tears. It’s no lie… he mentored me and provided me with so much invaluable guidance.”
Continuing with his candid confession, he said, “It felt as if the ground beneath you was suddenly yanked away, right? So it’s like, wondering how do you process something like that? How do you come to terms with the relationship we nurtured?”
In support of their colleague, the TNA roster submitted a consolidated letter addressed to Anthem, advocating for a rethink of D’Amore’s replacement. However, their pleas fell on deaf ears, and D’Amore’s position was eventually filled by Anthem executive, Anthony Cicione.
Since his controversial departure from TNA, D’Amore has returned to his roots and reinstated Maple Leaf Wrestling. Alexander, along with other TNA stars, featured in two events organized by Maple Leaf Wrestling in October.
