Jonny Fairplay says his recent comments about Melina‘s future in wrestling were taken out of context.
The initial story gained some traction after Fairplay recently spoke with PWTorch, where said he had recently hung out with Robert Stone, who was waiting for his next storyline. Fairplay was credited as saying Stone’s plan was to bring in Melina and manage in NXT, but she had to have surgery and they weren’t using Stone right now.
Fairplay posted the following response to the story going around about the “scrapped” plans for Melina Perez’s WWE return, noting that the information is inaccurate and offered an explanation.
Just to reiterate, No. I didn’t say Robbie told me that he was managing Melina. I heard that prior. Robbie just said he was anxiously waiting for his next client. I heard the melina news weeks ago, NOT from Robbie E. But if I EXAGGERATE so much, why didn’t u contact me to confirm
Melina’s name first came back up after PWInsider.com reported she had agreed to terms on a new deal with WWE to return. Melina denied that report, posting a statement on Facebook claiming that while she was not signed with WWE, it didn’t mean it wasn’t a possibility and she wasn’t sure what her future holds.
Stone has managed Chelsea Green, Aaliyah and Mercedes Martinez in NXT but hasn’t been seen on-air in several weeks. Although we still have to wait and see who Stone’s next client is, it doesn’t look like it will be Melina after Fairplay set the record straight.
