In a discussion with “Authority Magazine” recently, Jon Moxley spoke about his ongoing physical health, revealing that he has been attending physical therapy sessions for his hip condition. Moxley currently holds the title of AEW World Champion and is set to enter the ring against Orange Cassidy at AEW Full Gear 2024.
Several important pointers from the interview can be reviewed below:
Regarding advice to budding wrestlers, Moxley emphasizes the importance of experience, stating, “Work. Get out there and work. Everywhere you can. Anywhere you can. As much as you can. The answer to almost every question you can ask is…get experience. There’s just no substitute for it.”
When asked about influential figures in his life, Moxley credited many amazing teachers in the wrestling industry, but highlighted his wife, Renee Paquette, as being the most significant difference-maker in his life. According to Moxley, her presence prevented him from straying down a destructive path, and she had been a linchpin holding his life together.
On rehabilitating from injuries, Moxley discusses his recent physical therapy sessions for his hip. He emphasizes his mantra of hard work and dedication, even as he grapples with the fact that he isn’t recovering as swiftly as he used to. He advocates for disciplined recovery and focusing on stretching, mobility, and recovery practices.
In a related anecdote on the “What Happened When” podcast, AEW broadcaster Tony Schiavone mentioned that the 2020 Mimosa Mayhem match between Chris Jericho and Orange Cassidy at AEW All Out is among Jericho’s most noteworthy encounters. The loser of the match was the first person to be thrown into a large vat of mimosa.
“A memorable match indeed,” Schiavone noted. He added, “To me, that just underlines the brilliance of Chris Jericho because he knows how to construct moments that will stay in your memory.”
Jericho lost the match when Cassidy tossed him into the mimosa vat.
