During the “Youngstown Studio” podcast, pro-wrestler Jon Moxley shared his insights regarding the ongoing state of AEW, his speculated views on the future of the company, among other discussions.
Key highlights from the podcast included:
Moxley discussed the current positioning of the AEW: “AEW is still in its early stages. It’s like a blank canvas, waiting to be shaped based on our preferences. There are no limitations or preconceived boundaries. AEW is akin to a block of clay, just beginning to take form. Despite a few indentations and fingerprints, it remains a raw piece of clay. Its malleability presents unlimited possibilities for the future.”
Moxley emphasized that there are no concrete rules for pro wrestling: “There’s no universal guidebook or commandments for wrestling or even television. If you strangely find yourself abiding by these ‘rules,’ it means we’ve either created these boundaries in our own minds, or someone outside with limited creativity has dictated it towards us. Don’t succumb to that. Just focus on the blank canvas in front of you and unleash your creativity.”
He is more intrigued to see what AEW could be years from now rather than its current state: “I am indifferent towards AEW’s present position. What intrigues me is its futuristic potential. The exciting part is the anticipation of where it could be in five, ten, and even twenty years from now. Everything so far has been quite predictable about a new wrestling company in this era. But now, we’re reaching broader horizons with a new TV deal, the HBO Max streaming platform, and various other opportunities.”
Moxley stressed the need to always remain a learner, no matter how successful you get: “The day you think you’ve learned everything is the day you start falling behind. Some otherwise genius individuals ended up lagging due to stagnation in their learning process. I will always strive to stay ahead of the curve and welcome new inventions. I’d rather experiment and mess up, learn from it, and advance.”
The experienced Moxley has recently won his fourth AEW World Title by defeating Bryan Danielson at AEW WrestleDream 2024.
On another note, during his feature on the “Foundation Radio” podcast, former ROH World Champion, Mark Briscoe shared about winning the title this year at the ROH Supercard Of Honor in Philadelphia.
Key excerpts from his interview include:
Mark Briscoe’s emotional account of winning the ROH World Title: “It was a seriously emotional moment. The way it all came together made it even more special. My brother had won the title on the exact day 11 years ago, and here I was, winning it in Philadelphia, the city where ROH originated.”
Briscoe shared about cherishing this moment forever: “It was all the more surreal as I got to celebrate it with my friends and family who had traveled from not so far. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”
Briscoe recently lost his title to Chris Jericho on AEW Dynamite in a Ladder War. This was Jericho’s second ROH World Title win, earning him a record ninth world title in his career.
