A recent update in Janel Grant’s legal proceeding against WWE, Vince McMahon, and John Laurinaitis regarding allegations of sex trafficking and sexual assault has surfaced.
Reports from Pwinsider reveal that Laurinaitis has requested to move Grant’s litigation to arbitration proceedings. This action aligns with similar requests previously made to the U.S. District Court for Connecticut by WWE and Vince McMahon on December 24.
Laurinaitis stated, “As a full-time employee of WWE, it is my understanding that I was listed as a released party from any and all lawsuits or causes of action from Plaintiff Grant.” He communicated his belief that arbitration is the “sole and exclusive method” to address issues arising from the agreement between Grant and McMahon.
McMahon echoed this sentiment, confirming that the contract between himself, WWE, and Grant holds a clause that states “any dispute arising under or out of” that agreement needs to be dealt with through arbitration. He further argued that Grant’s lawsuit is “in direct violation of her agreement to arbitrate”.
Grant’s legal representative has been given a deadline of January 13 to respond to this recent development.
