John Hennigan Crowned MLW National Openweight Champ On Underground

John Hennigan dismissed Davey Richards to end up being the brand-new MLW National Openweight Champion on today’s episode of MLW Underground.

Hennigan beat Richards thanks to a prompt disturbance from Cesar Duran that sidetracked the referee. Taya Valkyrie then blasted Richards with her MLW Women’s Featherweight Title and Hennigan covered him for the pin to win the MLW National Openweight Championship.

The match (which was taped at MLW Blood & & Thunder on January 7th) marks Hennigan’s first run with the MLW National Openweight Championship. Richards won the gold from Alex Kane at Battle Riot IV and his title reign ends at 198 days.
